The image above was from an article in Inspire, the Al Qaeda produced English language magazine. According to a story on Mother Jones, the terrorist organization is equating the Obama administration's support of same-sex marriage with their contention that America is a country standing on "no values".
Other articles in the magazine teach kids how to make bombs in their mom's kitchen, set fire to cars, etc. But mainly they're pissed because some folks in America have expressed tolerance for same-sex relationships.
Gee... wonder what other groups feel the same way about gay marriage? Let's see... well, there's the Republican Party, according to their party platform at the last convention. And there's the Bible-thumpers, such as Pat Robertson and the Evangelicals who send him money. And of course, who can forget those warm and fuzzy folks who belong to the Westboro Babtist Church, the people who show up to protest at the funerals of fallen American military members.
Just to be clear about a couple of things: I'm not suggesting an equivalency between our religious and political lunatics and those who belong to Al Qaeda. Nor am I saying that belonging to the Republican Party makes you an intolerant bigot capable of terrorist acts. I'm just saying that people are often judged by the company they keep, and in this regard, Al Qaeda has some domestic company who share that organization's disgust with same-sex marriage and gay rights.
If you belong to the Republican Party or send money to Pat Robertson or his ilk, you might want to reconsider who you're standing with on this issue.
And if you belong to Al Qaeda you might want to do the same thing. Do you really want to be seen in the same light as Republican evangelicals?
Think about it...
