Good fucking God, where does the Republican Party find these trolls?
Rep. Todd Akin (R-Missouri) was being interviewed by KTVI for the "Jaco Report" and was asked about his position of making abortion illegal, even in event of rape or incest, when he said that pregnancies rarely occur in cases of "legitimate rape."
I guess my first question for this biology major would be to have him define an "illegitimate" rape. Maybe that's a rape that occurs when a husband or boyfriend forces himself on his wife or girlfriend? Or perhaps when the victim is dressed inappropriately... you know, asking for it?
Here's my own transcript from the video clip below:
"First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that that didn't work, or something. You know, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be in the rapist, and not attacking the child."
This asshat just won the Republican primary for the right to challenge Sen. Claire McCaskill for her seat in the United States Senate. Mike Huckabee has endorsed Akin, calling him "a courageous conservative" who "supports traditional marriage" and "protects the unborn."
Just to hear this ignorant asshole pivot during his response, from his position on making abortion illegal to a quick stance on punishing rapists was enough to turn my stomach. If you want a perfect example of a teabagger candidate who is unfit to serve in the Kansas City City Council, much less the U.S. Senate, here you go.
This is just stunning, even for the Tea Party.
Of course, he's backtracking today, saying he "misspoke".

Apparently, several prominent Republican conservatives are calling for this dickwad to step down and get out of the race. But it may be too late for Repubs to field another candidate... almost like how they won't allow abortions after a certain time limit in gestation? It may be beyond the date for a late-term abortion of this candidacy by the GOP. How ironic!
The other tidbit of info I didn't know when I originally wrote this post: Rep. Todd Akin currently serves on the U.S. House Science and Technology Committee ! This clown is on a science and tech committee in Congress.
Feel better about your Congress, now? They talk all the time about money being squandered by Congress... how much are we paying Todd Akin of Missouri?

I would Like him to be "Legitimately raped" Do we need any more evidence that these assholes hate women? Seems legit to me.
Patricia, when you consider the waves of legislative nostalgia for the Dark Ages when women's reproductive rights are concerned, maybe THAT's what teabaggers are talking about when they say they want to take the country back. Back to the Dark Ages, maybe?
I swear, this one clip and quote by Mr. Akins made me so angry I had to go outside. There's just no way to communicate with people this proudly ignorant, and the saddest part of this is the fact that THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!
Half of the delegation from Tennessee to Congress or our own state legislature would listen to this asshole, and nod their heads in agreement with his positions and logic.

It makes me wonder if they know any women who have been raped? Probably not. If they had a daughter or a sister or a mother attacked like that,and then to top it off, maybe you would have to walk around in fear of an unwanted pregnancy? This goes on all the time all over the world,which convinces me that we are turning into a third world country.My only hope is that because these people are so extreme they get a lot of press. I have seen these Teatards in the streets in Jersey too, but not in strong numbers.It's just disgusting.
I don't know the pole info on this Missouri race. But I would bet he has not lost much ground over this, and his fundraisers more than likely will benefit. The reichwing bible thumpers will rush to put checks in the mail.
I see this idiot is endorsed by Huckabee and the E-van-jello-culs counsel. Good for them. If ever you would go on line with your credit card and give to a race, might I suggest Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, the current senator the idiot is running against. Also to Obama, though ahead, barely, it could go the wrong way.
I would love to see Akin convicted of a crime and sentenced to prison.
Maybe he would say that his sore behind was "legitimate rape"? Do you wonder.
