Yep, just when I thought we were headed for the crapper, I got a booster shot.
The most surprising thing is Thomas wrote (and also Scalia) descenting opinion. The man has ask 2 or 3 questions from the bench in all these years, and written only a few opinions, he must be mad as hell to make an effort.

UN-fucking-BELIEVABLE! A couple of months ago Roberts hinted that there needed to be more unity between the Justices for the institution of the Supreme Court to remain credible, and that 5-4 splits (along party lines, much like Congress) would lead to the eventual demise of the SCOTUS. He's gonna take a lotta heat for being "The Deciderer" on this one .... not to mention the heat he'll take for authoring the decision!

Watching Faux News spin this as a victory for the fundies is something to behold!
They're now saying that because there is no criminal penalty for NOT PAYING THE FINE FOR NOT PURCHASING HEALTH CARE, people can protest this decision by not purchasing and refusing to pay the fine with impunity.

My first thought(scary ain't it??) was Roberts wants to keep his job, but he is safe, can't be replaced unless he dies, resigns or is impeached(which if the FuckingRepublicans are in charge is very likely!!).

I nearly fell off my chair when the headlines popped up this morning, since I had almost reconciled myself to the hack-tastic supremes striking down the "broccoli" mandate.
Guess Roberts has a shred of self-respect left... If he keeps this up, he may become a liberal yet. I shudder to think about the death threats he's going to be receiving, not to mention the cocktail parties he won't be invited to.
As for the meltdowns by Faux sNooz and the allegedly human Rush (I only act like a pig) Limbaugh, I'll take Squatlo's word for it. No way am I tuning in.
